What you see from up there
Old Town roofs, Lokrum and the Elaphiti Islands
A free state that traded on the sea
Dubrovnik's history reaches back to around the 7th century, when refugees from the ruined Roman town of Epidaurum founded Ragusa on this stretch of coast. From the 14th to the 19th century it governed itself as the Republic of Ragusa, a free maritime state that grew wealthy on seaborne trade through the 15th and 16th centuries — the terracotta-roofed Old Town below the platform is what's left of that republic, and UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage Site in 1979.
An island a swim away
Lokrum sits about 600 metres off Dubrovnik's coast, close enough to see clearly from height — a protected nature reserve since 1948, one of the oldest in Croatia, left uninhabited apart from the ruins of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery and a small, salty inland lake known locally as the Dead Sea.
Where the sun actually goes down
The operator's own description of the Sunset Dinner has the sun setting behind the Elaphiti Islands, the scattered chain running north-west from Dubrovnik along the Dalmatian coast — not into open sea, but behind a line of islands that turns the sky gold, pink and violet as the platform works its way around through 360 degrees.
Babin Kuk, not the old city itself
The crane stands on Babin Kuk, the wooded peninsula west of the walled city where Dubrovnik's resort hotels sit — a different part of town from the Old Town itself, with its own view back across the water to the roofs and the bell towers.
From the ground up
The Sunset Dinner runs as one continuous evening — from the hotel lobby on the ground to a table turning slowly high above Babin Kuk, and back down again about ninety minutes later.
- 30 min before
Meeting at the Valamar Lacroma
The evening starts in the lobby of the Valamar Lacroma Hotel on Babin Kuk, 30 minutes ahead of lift-off, with a welcome drink while the table is prepared.
- Ground level
Harnessed in, checked three times
Each seat is fitted with TUV-certified harness equipment, and the operator runs its own three-step safety check on every belt before the platform is allowed to rise.
- Lift-off
The crane takes the table up
The whole table — guests, crew and all — is raised together by crane, the ground and the hotel's own rooftops dropping away first.
- In the air
Levelling out over Babin Kuk
At its full height the platform holds steady and begins to turn, giving every seat its own slow pass across the Elaphiti Islands and the coast as the sun gets low.
- Course by course
Three courses, aloft
The 3-course meal is served course by course through the roughly 90 minutes in the air, with Croatian wine and soft drinks kept topped up throughout.
- Touch-down
Back to the ground
The crane lowers the table back to Babin Kuk to close out the two-hour evening, door to door.
Arrive 30 minutes before your sitting's start time — the harness fitting and safety check happen before the table ever leaves the ground. The operator currently lists a 5:45pm start for the Sunset Dinner; your own booking confirmation shows the time that applies to your date.
The menu
The Sunset Dinner is a 3-course meal built from fresh local ingredients, with a meat, fish or vegetarian menu to choose from, and unlimited Croatian wine and soft drinks poured throughout.

Three menus to choose from
Meat runs Dalmatian prosciutto, slow-roasted veal with a potato-asparagus quiche, and chocolate mousse. Fish runs smoked tuna, sea bream in a herb-almond crust, and cheesecake. Vegetarian runs beetroot tartare, rice arancini, and a lemon tart — the operator asks for dietary preferences at the time of booking.
Wine and soft drinks, unlimited
A welcome drink starts the evening, and Croatian wine and soft drinks are kept topped up for the full time in the air — the operator's own description of the Sunset Dinner names this as included, not an add-on.
The sittings, compared
| Sitting | What's included | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| 360° Panorama Lunch | A 3-course lunch at midday, with unlimited wine and soft drinks, about 70 minutes in the air | Travellers who'd rather see Babin Kuk and the coast in full daylight |
| Golden Hour Bites | Four tastings from four Croatian regions in the late afternoon, about 50 minutes in the air | A shorter, lighter sitting earlier in the day |
| The Sunset Dinner | The full 3-course dinner — meat, fish or vegetarian — with unlimited wine, timed to the sunset, about 90 minutes in the air | Couples and groups booking the evening sitting, the one this page is built around |

Height and weight limits
The operator sets a minimum height of 1.20 metres and a maximum weight of 130 kg per seat, as part of fitting the safety harness correctly.
Weather can ground the lift
If the day gets too windy, the operator may have to cancel the sitting for safety reasons. If that happens, they'll be in touch to either reschedule your evening or give you a full refund.
What to wear and bring
There's no dress code — the operator recommends comfortable clothing, secure footwear and a light jacket for after the sun's gone down. Cameras and phones are fine at the table; the operator asks that large bags stay off it.
Getting to Babin Kuk
The meeting point is the lobby of the Valamar Lacroma Hotel on Babin Kuk, the hotel peninsula west of Dubrovnik's Old Town — arrive 30 minutes ahead of your sitting's start time.

Before you book
How high does the table actually go?
The operator raises the platform high into the air above Babin Kuk, where it holds steady and rotates for the rest of the sitting.
What's in the 3-course meal?
A choice of meat (Dalmatian prosciutto, slow-roasted veal, chocolate mousse), fish (smoked tuna, sea bream, cheesecake) or vegetarian (beetroot tartare, rice arancini, lemon tart), told to the operator when you book.
Is anything to drink included?
Yes — a welcome drink plus unlimited Croatian wine and soft drinks for the full time in the air.
How long is the whole evening?
About 2 hours door to door, with roughly 1 hour 30 minutes of that spent aloft.
Is there a height or weight limit?
The operator sets a minimum height of 1.20 metres and a maximum weight of 130 kg per seat, for the safety harness to fit correctly.
What happens if the wind picks up?
If the day gets too windy, the operator may have to cancel for safety reasons. If that happens, they'll get in touch to either reschedule your sitting or give you a full refund.
What should I wear?
There's no dress code. Comfortable clothing and secure footwear are recommended, with a light jacket for after sunset — the evening is spent in an open-air harness, not indoors.
Where do I meet, and when?
At the lobby of the Valamar Lacroma Hotel on Babin Kuk, 30 minutes before your sitting is due to start.
Should I use the toilet beforehand?
Yes — there isn't one on the platform, so the operator recommends using the facilities at the Valamar Lacroma Hotel before you go up. The longest you'll be aloft on the Sunset Dinner is about 1 hour 30 minutes.
